Here at St. Bartholomew our ministry is to develop efforts in these five areas:
1. Legal Support
Finding lawyers
Accompanying people to immigration court, immigration office etc.
2. Cultural Adjustment
Familiarizing families with local school systems
Driving people to doctor visits, grocery, etc.
3. Family Support (providing housing)
Sponsor one family for one year in rented housing (expenses would be covered through donations to the CARE ministry)
4. Support Bethany Christian Services
Support unaccompanied children
Provide respite relief for transitional foster families
Donating needed items
5. Education of Immigrant and non-Immigrants
Monthly C.A.R.E. meetings
Guest speakers presenting on relevant topics
May 11, 2021. Fr. Chris recently hosted a presentation based on his reflections and experiences from his trip to the southern Arizona/Mexico border with the Kino Border Initiative (KBI). KBI was found in 2008 by six Catholic organizations including the Jesuit Refugee Service.
June 8, 2021, Cindy Neal of Bethany Christian Services presented at our June C.A.R.E. Meeting about how we as a parish can support unaccompianed children in Transitional Foster Care.
